The City I Love, The City of Lights – Paris, France

“…When you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it.” – Paulo Coelho, The Alchemist

As I arrived in Paris, I was almost in denial that I was actually there. For years I had dreamed of visiting the City of Lights and soaking up all of the sites and culture. The reality of being there didn’t actually hit me until about four hours after my arrival. We left the airport, got to our hotel and got settled in, then purchased tickets for the Big Bus Tour, which drops you off at various points of interest throughout the city.

Finally, our bus was approaching the Eiffel Tower and I could see it in the distance. With tears of joy in my eyes, it finally set in- I was living out part of my own Personal Legend. Let me explain: In the book The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho, the main theme is about following your own Personal Legend, or your destiny (certain choices could pull you away from your destiny, according to the book). In this moment, I knew that I was right where I was supposed to be. I was following my dreams. It felt as if all was right and good in the world, the stars had finally aligned.

Paris is so much more than a city to me. It is a dream, it is a magical place, and it is part of the Personal Legend of many people who live for travel, just like myself. As I write this, Paris is still running through my veins and bringing warmth to my heart. I plan to return at the earliest opportunity.

This short article is basically just an introduction to upcoming review-style articles about attractions around Paris. I wanted to get across how much this trip meant to me and I hope this will inspire some of my readers to visit one day. I would like all of you to experience the joy that I did when I went there. I would definitely also recommend the book I mentioned, The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho. It is quite inspiring and entertaining, as well (you can read it on the plane!). There is so much wisdom to be gained from Coelho’s writing.

Stay tuned in the coming weeks for Paris attraction reviews and more great pictures of that amazing city! Don’t forget to sign up for email updates, so you don’t miss anything (left side of the webpage)!
