The Most Beautiful Chapel in Paris

Saint Chappelle is located in Paris, on the Ile de la Cite. Part of the Palais de la Cite, this site is a 13th century gothic-style cathedral that boasts over 1,100 stained glass windows. When people think of beautiful churches, chapels, and cathedrals to visit in Paris, they usually think of Notre Dame. This isn’t to say Notre Dame isn’t amazing, but Saint Chappelle was unlike anything I had ever seen before. The colors of the stained glass and the sheer size of the windows will completely engulf you as you enter the upper chapel. I actually gasped as I entered because I had no idea that what I was about to see would be so magnificent.

Each stained glass window in the upper chapel tells part of a biblical story. Most stories are from the Old Testament in the Bible, but there are also quite a few from the New Testament, as well. Due to the height of the windows, it may be difficult to see each individual window. Luckily, an app was created that will allow visitors to view any section of the windows on their phone. This way, you won’t miss a thing on your visit. The app also contains interesting information and facts about the chapel (I will include the link at the end of the article).

I would highly recommend a visit to Saint Chappelle if you are in Paris! It is inexpensive and only takes 30-60 minutes to visit if you are going on your own (it may be longer and more expensive if you opt to purchase a guided tour through a travel company).

-If you’d like to explore the Rose Window on the app, it is free. It only costs 0.99 Euros to be able to view all of the other windows on the app.
