New Hope, Pennsylvania has always been one of my favorite places for a day trip. There definitely is not shortage of activities to keep you entertained in this town. New Hope is situated alongside the Delaware River in Bucks County, PA. Whether you’re a foodie, an avid shopper (like me!), a history buff, or if you are just looking for a nice place to walk around…… New Hope is for you! Why not take a day trip and see what this fascinating town has to offer?
1. Interesting Shops
I’m a natural born shopaholic and the stores here offer unique and beautiful finds that you simply can’t get at the big box retailers. There are clothing shops, antique and art shops, thrift stores, and much more! My personal favorite is The Shop of India, which sells lovely Indian-style clothing, jewelry, and accessories.
2. Ice Cream and Candy!!!!
There are several candy and chocolate shops in New Hope, as well as delicious ice cream stores. Pick out your favorite candies or get an ice cream cone and stroll around with your treat!
3. Restaurants, Bars, and Nightlife
Grab a cold one and play some pool at Triumph Brewery or at one of the many pubs this riverside town has to offer.
New Hope has so many delicious restaurants to choose from and has menus for all tastes and budgets. If you are looking for affordable, tasty food, check out El Taco Loco (one of my personal favorites).
5. Take a train ride
The New Hope and Ivyland Railroad is one of the highlights of visiting New Hope. This activity is a great for kids and adults, alike. Year round, you may take a traditional ride, but there are also special themed excursions at different times of the year. For example, during the Fall, there is the Fall Foliage excursion. I really enjoyed this option because the views of the Autumn leaves are magnificent! Also, for Halloween there is a scary, haunted train ride which I am looking forward to attend for the first time this October. Don’t miss the Polar Express ride for the Christmas season!

6. Take a FREE tour of a historic mansion
The Parry Mansion is a lovely historic home that is operated by the New Hope Historical Society. The mansion was owned by Benjamin Parry, one of the men that actually founded New Hope! The home was built in 1784 and was passed down through each generation of the Parry family until 1966, when the Historical Society took over. Enjoy free tours of the mansion with knowledgeable guides on Saturdays and Sundays from 1 pm – 5 pm, May through November. Located at 45 S. Main Street in New Hope, PA 18938.
7. Catch a play
Forget a trip to the movie theater! See a live play at Bucks County Playhouse. Their next upcoming show is called 42nd Street, with more to follow further into the season. Located at 70 S. Main Street, New Hope, PA 18938 For more info about tickets and upcoming shows: http://bcptheater.org/
8. Take a walk on the bridge
If you walk on the New Hope-Lambertville Bridge, you will get a great view of the Delaware River. If you are finished with your New Hope excursion, you can simply walk or drive across into Lambertville, New Jersey. Lambertville is also a great town for shopping, antiquing, and dining!
